I've been called a writer, interactive storyteller, narrative designer, transmedia producer, game designer, franchise strategist, storyworld builder, and emerging media explorer. Lots of words, none of them quite right.
My work often falls in the spaces between the definitions. Every project is different from the last, because each has its own unique needs. Here are a few things I've done:
Engineered an Emmy-award winning re-imagining of a beloved classic for the modern interconnected world
Built a pipeline for the narrative development of interactive VR experiences
Wrote a franchise strategy bible of several hundred thousands of words to help build an interconnected universe of television series
Published a book of advice columns for fictional characters
Made Alternate Reality Games and tie-in series for some very popular movies
Helped to honor the new canon of digital, interactive and immersive storytelling
Brought interactive ghosts and murder mysteries to fans at home
I've worked on intimate indie projects, new media experiments, and huge legacy IP. I love working on lots of different kinds of stories, genres, and formats. I’m developing an obsession with story documents and the ways that team understand the stories they’re trying to tell. And lately I find myself thinking a lot about the challenges of narrative strategy and large-scale worldbuilding.
If any of this sounds like it might be helpful to you and your projects, or even if you just want to chat about stories and storytelling, please reach out to me. I'm looking forward to talking to you soon.
